How local schools are investing their Inspiration Awards grants:

  • Additional staff, such as instructional assistants
  • Staff development (seminars, conferences, speakers, educational materials)
  • Substitute teacher pay, to support collaboration between general and special education teachers, including ESL teachers
  • Incentives for student achievement, including the display of leadership qualities in the classroom and academic achievement
  • Parent Nights and other events to train volunteers, build community relationships and provide opportunities to share best practices
  • School-wide assemblies to promote tolerance, acceptance and cooperation
  • After-school friendship clubs
  • Student Mentoring programs
  • Parent volunteer stipends to cover lunch duty with licensed personnel so that aides are available for additional hours of instructional time
  • Laptop computers to assist both students and co-teachers
  • Tutoring programs
  • Tools and technologies, such as MP4 players, headphones/listening centers, LCDs, computer based-phonics programs, writing curricula and library materials
